The scope of Manual Testing

iNTRODUCTION

Manual Testing is a kind of Software Testing where the testers manually evaluates the performance and quality of a software/application developed. Even if a lot of automation testing tools are available Manual Testing has its own space because the certain test phases cannot perform well without the manual testers.

BENEFITS

The performance evaluation can be done based on the test plan created ,the test cases will be executed step by step and the results will be recorded. This process will give us a report on the bugs occurring in the software/application. Testing process in time consuming and tedious as we need to continue the same test cases repeatedly to identify the issues and evaluate them. So, most of the companies prefer to use Automated Test Tools to do the QA Process effectively. Even Though, Manual Testing is essential and has a critical role in the following aspects:

1.Manual Testing helps to understand the problem in a conceptual way.

When Testing is done by  a Human being,all the basic needs of the software will be perfectly analysed in the end user’s point of view. This actual evaluation is required for the quality performance of the application. The behaviour of the test cases will be analysed in each and every possible angle while the testing is done by a human being.

2.Exploratory Testing can perform only Manually

Exploratory Testing is a method to test without a pre design plan. Ie. Here all the severe defects that may occur during the logical execution will be identified. This method will help to evaluate the performance in real time reactions of the application. Here test case execution will be done with minimum planning and maximum execution. Here the manual testers are more effective than automated test tools. Here the test leaders can collect the evaluation results from manual testers. Similar kind of test cases will be executed as per the logical reasoning ability of the testers.This will be helpful to get real-time progress updates.

3.Some Test Scenarios are technically feasible for manual testing only

There are some situations while  testing applications where the expected result will get only at manual processes.For example, while testing “Tap” on the screen.In this situation we can create a “Tap” with a human touch only,no automated methods will produce the same effect.

CONCLUSION

Hence, I emphasise manual testing will not die or become unimportant ,even if we got extreme perfect automated test tools. Nowadays the Manual and Automation Testing are clubbed together to get the best and perfect Test Results
